The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

Published March 10th 2009 by Gollancz
Paperback, 310 pages
Genre: YA, Dystopian

In Mary's world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth.

But, slowly, Mary's truths are failing her. She's learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future - between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded in so much death?---Goodreads

This book was amazing!! I never thought I would say that about a book that has zombies in it but I can't deni how moved I was while reading this story. To give you a little visual aide as to what this book is like I would say it is a cross between The Village and I Am Legend but without the scientific experiments. It's devestating and soo addicting. I couldn't put the book down because I just had to know what was going to happen next. The action and suspense never stopped.

I love and admire Mary's character. She is a very strong girl who wants to be incharge of her own destiny. Mary is inquisitive and brave but also vulnerable. Now, I don't want to give too much away but this was the most civialized love triangle I have ever read. But, I felt is was very fitting since they feel they are the only survivers left in the world and wouldn't be able to just get up and leave the protections of the village. All the characters involved were faced with the responsiblilty to carry on the survival of the human race while abandoning their true hearts desire.

Be prepared for lots of hearbreak and tears! I was so devestated at the end of this book but I also felt hope. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. Hopefully we get to see more of Mary, Jed, Harry and Cass in the next books.
"There is always a choice, Mary," Sister Tabitha says..."It is what makes us human, what seperates us form them."pg 34
Jeb--" The sisterhood has it wrong," he says."It's not about surviving. It should be about love. When you know love...that's what makes this life worth it. When you live with it every day.Wake up with it, hold on to it during the thunder and after a nighmare. When love is your refuge from the death that surrounds us all and when it fills you so tight that you can't express it."pg 155
Sex-o-meter: kissing
Drug-o-meter: none

A Vampire's Kiss: (Vol.1 No 1) Manigault Vampires by Laura Stamps

"Sara Gadsden is a Wiccan Green Witch addicted to paranormal romance novels and their gorgeous vampire heroes. Like most people, she has no idea vampires actually exist until she meets Drayton Manigault at a Samhain party. Dray is not only one of Columbia's wealthiest businessmen, but he's also been a vampire for the last 145 years. Oh, and he's totally yummy. When Dray offers Sara a job working for his computer company, Manigault Technologies, fantasy collides with reality, and Sara's future is suddenly transformed into one wild, smokin' HOT ride!"--Goodreads

I had the privilege of reading the first three chapters of the serialized novel A Vampire Kiss by Laura Stamps. I can't comment on the whole book since it isn't available yet but the first couple of chapters are very pomising. The flirtatious dialogue is great and the chemistry is there but I felt the only subject on everyone's mind was sex. I know, I know it's an Erotica book but even so I think these books can be so much more than JUST SEX. What I really liked about the first few chapters was that Dray is a total gentleman with Sara. He's kind and courteous. Everything you'd love in a man, while Sara is a little she-devil. She's a straight forward, carefree, headstrong kind of woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it. It is so much fun reading the interactions of these two characters because they are so oppisite but very attracted to each. As much as I felt the heat between these two characters I still wanted more foreplay and more drawn out sexual tention. I need more history about Sara, about Dray and the vampires. How did these vampiers evolve? Where did thay come from? I now that it is unfair to ask for when I only read three chapters of this book but that is what I look forward to reading about most when starting a new series.  I can't wait to find out what comes next for Sara and Dray and their steamy relationship.

Stephenie Meyers New Book!!

Sheesh Stephenie Meyer can really hold secrests!!
This story is about Bree Tanner who was introduced in Eclipse for a very small but significant scene. The scene after the battle between the Cullens/Quileutes and the newborns. She is the only newborn left alive but not for very long.
From what I gathered this book will be free to read online but will also be available to purchase in stores.
This is her statment on her website:

There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at

Well now I'm looking forward to reading Bree's story. What about you?
Hopefully Stephenie writes a book for Leah and one for Renesmee as well as finish Midnight Sun. Let's all cross our fingers. Oh and she also needs to write the The Seeker and The Soul which belong to The Host Series. LOL!! I love The Host and if you haven't read it you should! I gave it 5 hearts.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Published March 2, 2010 by HarperCollins
Hardcover, 470 pages

What if you had only one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life?

Samantha Kingston has it all—looks, popularity, the perfect boyfriend. Friday, February 12th should be just another day in her charmed life. Instead, it’s her last. The catch: Samantha still wakes up the next morning. In fact, she re-lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she had ever imagined.--Goodreads

This book started out so strong and I was hooked right away. I thing the subject of what happens once you die is very interesting and Lauren did a great job in sharing her POV. During Sam’s journey I felt so many different emotions.
Anger, because I was so mad at Sam for being a follower for so long. She knew and felt some of the things she was doing was not right. Happy when she spent the day with her little sister. It was such a beautiful and memorable moment between sisters. Disgust at Rob, Sam’s boyfriend because he has a lot to learn about being in a relationship. But then again he is only 17/18 years old. Anticipation, for the kiss..aaaww the kiss. (sorry no spoilers). Sadness, because she wasted so much of her life being someone she really isn’t and deep down I just felt sorry for her. Dread, when nearing the end. I knew how this book was going to end but I just hoped somehow things would’ve ended differently. Surprise, at how far Lindz let things go and for so long with out thinking there would be no consequences to her actions. Hope. I wished Sam could have had more time with the new life she found at the end.
Even thought this book is centered around a very serious subject, it was so much fun to read. Sam and her friends had me laughing like crazy through out the book. These girls have tons of fun, and are truly dedicated to each other through all there faults. This was a wonderful rollercoaster ride that left me drained of all emotions for a couple of days. This is a must read so put it on the top of your TBR pile.

Ally-"I read once that if a bunch of butterflies takes off from Thailand, it can cause a rainstorm in New York."
"Yeah, well, one of your farts could cause a massive blackout in Portugal." Elody giggles, throwing a fry back.
"Your morning breath could cause a stampede in Africa." Ally leans forward. "And I do not fart."

Sex-o-meter: Some conversations and references to sex but no graphic scene. A couple of kissing scenes.

Drug-o-meter: Some drug and alcohol use.
