Samara “Sam” Nicole Marshal has zero interest in Caleb in the beginning of this book. She was even wary and a little scared of him. But as time went on and curiosity got the best of her she finds herself very drawn to him. Not  drawn to him like every other female who can’t keep their tongues in their mouths once laying eyes on him but I guess you would say curious. She can’t figure out how or why all these females are attracted to him. Not that he is a total dog but he’s no fashion model either. Then she starts noticing that there are some weird incidences happening with the ladies in town that seemed to be connected to him. She considers herself a smart, strong, and independent woman but there is something about Caleb that she can’t shake.

Caleb Nolan Baker is a total enigma and has never been seriously interested in any female until Sam.  He knew right away that she wasn’t like all the other girls he’s ever met and I think that is the biggest part of his attraction to her. It takes some effort on his part but she finally gives in to him in (a little) but only because she wants to do some investigating. Every thing seems to be going well until things go a little haywire at a school party and Caleb‘s attacks one of Sam‘s classmate. With no other choice but to tell her what he is after that horrible incident he is faced with the possibility of losing her. After he explains to her in detail as to what he is and what exactly went wrong at the party they come to some semblance of friendship. With time they find comfort in each other they become more than just friends. During there time together Caleb finds what he needed most in a someone else; love, trust, acceptance, durability, intelligence, understanding. By the end of the book their relationship has stepped up to a whole new level and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next books.

Because Jaime does a great job with making me emotionally connect to them here is a little something about some of the other character in this book. Julie is Sam’s mom. She is an attractive single mother. Very strong minded and independent but is still a little lonely. I think she still has a thing for Sam’s dad which has moved on to another wife and now has twin 6 year olds. This situations makes me sad because Julie deserves someone great. Someone to make her happy. Mia is Sam’s best friend and she has an unhealthy but very passionate relationship with Dougie. She’s rich, fun, and high strung. She and Dougie are hilarious to read about.  Nadine is Sam’s co-worker and poet extraordinaire. She and Sam become closer than imaginable by the end of this book.

If your looking for something different or just an all around good read make sure an pick this book up. It’s a fresh story with great characters and an unimaginable ending. I loved it!

Haden--“ So you’re Caleb’s missing rib. Wouldn’t have pictured it.”
Haden--“The men in our family are irresistible. It’s  kind of a curse, actually. But I warn you , the  women who love us don’t have happy endings. So guard your heart. One kiss will seal your fate.
Sam- “Do I look like a Happy Meal to you? He’s not feeding off me.”

Caleb- “ I never saw you as one for formalities.”
“Me either.”
Placing my hand over his heart, he said, “In that case, I, Caleb Nolan Baker, hereby declare you, Samara Nicole Marshall, esquire, as my main squeeze. I proclaim exclusivity and promise devotion and loyalty. I am internally, externally, and eternally, yours.”
Caleb- “It doesn’t take much to make me happy, but the simplest things are sometimes the hardest to get. But when it finally  arrives, heaven help those who try to take it away from me.”
