Brandi's POV: Touch by Jus Accardo

Paperback, 251 pages
Published November 1st 2011 by Entangled Publishing

When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.

Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.

Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.

A secret Kale will kill to protect.--Goodreads

Touch by Jus Accoardo. Can I have Kale for my birthday, please???!!!! I cannot tell you how much I LOVED this book! Though it's roughly 400 pages long, I DEVOURED it in one setting. Dinner, be damned, sleep be damned! Everything took a backseat to reading and finishing this novel. The husband became quite upset when he was ignored when he came home from work. I found myself thinking, "Couldn't he at least have put in a couple of hours of overtime!!??"

I found the story refreshing and original. I have been very bored lately. It's really hard to get me so hooked that I read a 400 page book in one sitting, especially on a work night. The action started on the first page and never stopped. Dez’s sharp wit and tongue make her a delight to read.

There are not enough nice things I can say about this story. It is very well written with amazingly funny dialogue. I was hooked literally from the first page of the book and almost cried in disappointment at the end, because I wasn't ready to be done with these characters yet. I believe Ms. Accardo has found a way to hook her readers and keep them that way. I recently read the next in the series, Untouched, a novella and it was just as wonderful. The next installment, Toxic, comes out in September of 2012 and I simply cannot wait!

Thank you Ms. Accardo for sharing this story with the world!

If you have any doubts, HELLO! Just look at the cover! Kale is as yummy in the story as he is on the cover!

FIVE stars is simply not enough.

I would love to quote the whole book (Yes, it is that good!), but I obviously can't.

Brandt sighed. "Can you really do this?"
"They don't call me the Queen of Crazy Shit for nothing."

"Your shoes!" he growled, pointing at me feet. HIs voice was deep and sent tiny shivers dancing up and down my spine. "Give me your shoes!"
Buzzed or not, I was still pretty sharp. Whoever those guys yelling in the woods were, they were after him. Drug deal gone south? Maybe he'd gotten caught playing naked footsie with someone's girlfriend?
"Now!" he hissed.
I wouldn't have even considered giving up my favorite pair of red Vans if he hadn't looked so seriously freaked. He was being chased. He thought having my shoes would somehow help? Fine. Maybe as a weapon? Rocks would have worked better in my opinion, but to each his own.
Against my better judgment, I took several steps back and, without turning away from him, pulled them off. Stepping up, I tossed him the sneakers-and teetered forward. Instead of trying to catch me, he took a wide step back, allowing me to fall into the mud. My frickin' hero!
