There are those who don’t get luck handed to them on a shiny platter, who end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, who don’t get saved.

Luck was not on Callie’s side the day of her twelfth birthday when everything was stolen from her. After it’s all over, she locks up her feelings and vows never to tell anyone what happened. Six years later her painful past consumes her life and most days it’s a struggle just to breathe.

For as long as Kayden can remember, suffering in silence was the only way to survive life. As long as he did what he was told, everything was okay. One night, after making a terrible mistake, it seems like his life might be over. Luck was on his side, though, when Callie coincidentally is in the right place at the right time and saves him.

Now he can’t stop thinking about the girl he saw at school, but never really knew. When he ends up at the same college as Callie, he does everything he can to try to get to know her. But Callie is reserved and closed off. The more he tries to be part of her life, the more he realizes Callie might need to be saved.--Goodreads

My POV
Emotional overload! The ending of this book had me staring at my iPad dumbfounded and the words that escaped me were “I know she didn’t just end this book like this!” I was seriously looking for missing pages for a few seconds. I thought it was a mistake but NO there was nothing else. I need the next part of this story ASAP. I may lose my mind just thinking about the possibilities. That has to be one of the most dramatic cliffhanger I’ve ever read.

Callie and Kayden are at polar opposites as far as high school popularity goes. But they are more alike than they know. She is a solitary creature with no friends and has been hiding a horrible secret for the past six years. Kayden is the high school quarterback with a college football scholarship in his future. He has been keeping a family secret since he was seven.

One coincidental night seals an unexpected connection for these two. Acting on instinct but terrified out of her mind she saves Kayden’s life. He’s never gotten to thank Callie like he’s wanted to so when he sees her at college he thinks it a great opportunity, only she doesn’t let just any one near her. It’s a roller coaster of emotions from there.

I have so many questions now that I’m done reading this book. The main one that keeps repeating is…WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NOW?!?! I don’t know how I’m going to get over this. All I keep thinking about is Kayden. Is he going to be ok? How is Callie going to deal with this? What’s going to happen to them? What’s going to happen to Caleb? What are Callie’s parents going to say? Will they finally find out? What in the heck is Kayden’s mom and brother going to say? AND, why didn’t they ever get home??? Dam them! What is going to happen to his dad? That man makes me sick!! *closes eyes and takes a deep breath* ..Ok I can keep going with all my questions but I don’t want to give away the whole story and I’m sorry if I gave away too much already but this story has me in knots. If you are looking for an intense addictive read, this is definitely it.

Quote
"Life is full of luck, like getting dealt a good hand, or simply be being in the right place at the right time. Some people get luck handed to them, a second chance, a save. It can happen heroically, or by a simple coincidence, but there are those who don't get luck on a shiny platter, who end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, who don't get saved.
***
"In the existence of out lives, there is a single coincidence that brings us together and for a moment, our hearts beat as one."

  1. Do you know for sure if Book #2 actually is coming out on 2/28/13. I'm getting mixed reviews from various blogs and Sorensen's site.
