My POV: Hector by Elizabeth Reyes

Hector (5th Street, #3)
Published February 7th 2013
(first published January 1st 2013)
Womanizer—check.
Cocky—check.
Dangerous—checkmate.

Staying away from him was indisputably the sensible thing to do. The problem? She wasn’t just drawn to him; she was utterly mesmerized...

Charlotte Brennan is no stranger to heartache and mortification. Her past is full of both. So when amazing and incredibly intense Hector Ayala, literally jumps into Charlee’s life, her walls are immediately up. Letting her guard down and sharing her past and deepest secret is not happening. Charlee is not looking to get her heart crushed once again. However, her willpower proves to be no match for Hector’s mesmerizing pull.

Guilt is a profound emotion to deal with and no one knows this better than Hector. So when he gets the chance to make up for a past indiscretion that’s been gnawing away at him for months, he takes it. Doing so means he’ll also have to pass up pursuing Charlee, the only girl he’s ever been so fascinated by. But his inability to explain why they could never be has him dealing with a new kind of
guilt—the guilt of knowing he is unwillingly breaking her heart.--Goodreads

My POV

Out of all Elizabeth Reyes books this is the most surprising in such a wonderful way! As an author she has stepped out of her comfort zone to bring us a genuine story about a multicultural relationship.

Hector Ayala is the youngest partner of 5th Street Gym with mad boxing skills. As you can imagine he is handsome, built and can knock out his opponent with one punch. This automatically makes him HOT in my book. He’s also a player and pretty much unattainable. That is until sweet little Charlee comes along.

Charlotte Brennan “Charlee” is not what she seems at all. Yes she’s extremely quiet, yes she’s painfully shy but don’t let that fool you! Once she’s in her comfort zone especially around Hector let’s just say she has no problem showing Hector how she really feels about him.

I don’t want make this book sound like it’s all about the hot guy falling for the shy sweet girl because this book is much more that a sexy little read. It deals with real life issues like bulling, guilt and how those things can effect a person’s life.

Overall this is the best book in the series so far and I cannot wait for Abel’s book. I know that one going to top all the others!

Quote
"You haven't taken your eyes off him since we got here."...."Can't say I blame you. Mr. Muy Caliente is quite the eye candy."
****
"I know you like going at it long and taking it slow, Charlie." His playful smile made her breath catch, "But tonight you can  indulge the new guy, right? We can do this nice and slow another time. I promise."
