BLOG TOUR: FUN FACTS about Finally, Forever by Katie Kacvinsky

Expected publication: May 9th 2014
Loves Comes First Book #3

What do you do when you run into the ex love-of-your-life? Say hello? Hug? Shake hands? Run for your life?

In this tender and emotional story, Gray and Dylan discover that a destination isn't always a place. More often, it's a person. Now it's time for them to finally decide, is this forever?
~ Goodreads ~

1.      Gray, the lead male character, is named after my favorite color. Dylan, the lead female character, is named after my favorite musician, Bob Dylan.
2.      My favorite scene to write in this book was the tornado scene. First, because I LOVE thunderstorms. Secondly, something similar happened to me on a road trip, and I’ve always been looking forward to using it as scene in a book.
3.      I always blush when I write make out scenes. My books are fairly clean—I feel like I give enough to satisfy my readers, but I leave enough open for their own interpretation (or sexual fantasizing). If anything, I focus more on the emotional side of sex, versus the physical, graphic side. But I still blush when I write any type of romance scene. I usually need to drink one (or two) glasses of wine.
4.      I usually cry whenever my characters cry. It’s like we’re infused at the moment and I’m feeling everything right along with them. So, any time my characters cry in a book it’s safe to say I was crying, too.
5.      Dylan is probably my favorite character to write. She is refreshing and optimistic and she has almost become a constant voice in my head. If I’m having a bad day, or dwelling too much on myself, I’ll ask myself: What would Dylan do right now? Just thinking in her perspective makes me feel better.
6.      I probably wrote at least one hundred drafts before I was finished with this book. I spend A LOT of time on rewrites. It’s just my process.
7.      I designed the cover of this book myself. I did the photography, and designed the layout. It was really fun to take on the creative challenge.
8.      I wrote this book (and series) because it echoes themes in some of my favorite movies: When Harry Met Sally, A lot Like Love, and Annie Hall. I love stories that examine the complexities of a relationship. They point out relationships aren’t fairytales. They are complicated, stressful, and often times messy. That’s what I wanted to explore with this series.
9.      My favorite song on the Finally, Forever playlist is Unless it’s Kicks by Okkervil River. This is one of my favorite songs of all times because of the gorgeous, descriptive lyrics and the honest, emotionally charged voice of the lead singer. This is my favorite song to run to, drive to, and write to.
10.  The ending of this book is very autobiographical. Something similar happened to me about two years ago and it was so weird, because right after it happened I knew it was going to be the ending to this book. It’s so great when real life can be worthy of writing material.

Can two drastically different, imperfect people be perfect for each other?

It’s been four months since Gray and Dylan have seen each other. Dylan’s been traveling in Europe, while Gray has college, baseball, and a life rooted in one place. Gray’s determined to forget Dylan, the girl he fell in love with in First Comes Love. Besides, how do you make a relationship work with an independent loner?

Just when he decides he’s over her, Dylan makes an unexpected entrance back into his life, hoping their steamy romance can start right where it left off. Gray realizes you can tell your mind to do one thing, but you can’t always convince your heart to follow. Dylan realizes she finally has to make a choice between freedom and her relationship with Gray.

Hilarious, intense, inspiring, and emotional, Second Chance shows that love is a journey, and there are never clear road signs or maps to guide you along. You can only navigate with your heart.
